:new: Added stuff and organized the info a bit.

Warning:
Just wanted to get this off my chest :icontearplz:

Introduction:

To be honest this ship is kind of new to me. In fact, I didn’t even start shipping until a few months ago and I hadn’t even realized I was doing it.

This all started when I began to read dinosaurusgede’s brilliant doujin Maaf. I just fell in love with her art and the concept of a country’s rich history. It then made me wonder what Latin America, more specifically my often overlooked and underestimated bootiful Central America, had gone through themselves; from the time of the ancient civilization to colonization and even around the turn of the century until present modern day.

That was when I decided to research and find out. And through this process was where I envisioned and eventually created my Central American OCs Emoji05 So like basically, MY OCs WERE ORIGINALLY INTENDED FOR MY DOUJIN!!!

There was no romance intended; well scratch that, after reading up on Nicaragua and Costa Rica’s entwined and rather conflicted relations/history, I began to have the shipping feels ;w; I had favored the idea of those two having feelings for each other but refusing to ever admit them because they'd rather eat dirt (at least Nica would) then admit their feelings. So not really a straight-up couple thing but a connection that bonds them forever to each other (after all, before Spain, there was no border between them).

:iconheplz:

 But moving along...

Let me admit something else that'll be shocking, if it wasn’t for Hetalia, I WOULD NEVER HAVE GIVEN A FRYING FLIP FOR MY COUNTRY.Why? Because every time my Honduran relatives talk about their homeland, its always about how violent and dangerous and corrupted its become since their much “healthier and purer” days. And this kind of talk, besides the tales of childhood and what they used to do there, totally made me turn the other way since why would I want to go to my home country just so I can get robbed and possibly shot at?

Fact: The Keiko does not fancy life threatening situations to her person.

Still, I knew there was much to Honduras then that but it wasn’t until Maaf and my college professor’s country project that I became more interested and furthered my research more in Catracholandia (nickname for Honduras). And that’s when I started noticing some things. Out of all the CA countries, Honduras was the one most influenced and generally more open to the United States, the depth at which the boy was all up in her face was kind of alarming but I chalked it up as just one of those things America can’t help.

So once I brushed him out of the way (and trust me HE’S EVERYWHERE LIKE GOSH DAMMIT AMERICA :iconfliptableplz:!!!) and researched Hondu’s other foreign relations did I notice Canada. At first I was like “cool, Canada relations” and didn’t think too much about it until I found that after America, Canada was a pretty big yet subtle influence on Honduras and it was obvious they wanted to further relations (and they would if Honduras wasn't so dangerousEmoji26 )

Most of it is for business opportunities but then you get your typical volunteer, help make the country a better place type stuff. Again, nothing to make a big fuss about until I kept noticing their involvement in a lot of things such as environmental, natural disaster casualties, war involvement, coup involvement and other events that are really just small unimportant things. I looked at the neighboring countries who are much well off but you don’t see that much commitment from Canada, so I'm a little like --> O.o ???

And so this is where research has led me…

First Meeting? Established relations officially in 1961 but there have been interest back in the days when everyone went "Banana Crazy".But due to America and aggressive competitors, not much was done officially. There have been signs that, even during the Mayan rule, trade routes have been recorded to reach as far as North America...somehow.It leaves me mystified but hey, its not hard to imagine a young Hondu briefly meeting America and Canada and forgetting all about said meeting. Source: [link]

Relations? The two countries share a positive relationship. "Canada is perceived as playing a constructive role in Honduras, given our demonstrated commitment to democratic development, our important development assistance program, and extensive trade and investment linkages." Source: [Link]  And omg extensive is right OwO --> "Canada has had and still has a presence in Honduras through contributions through various development projects. You will come across the Canadian flag on a sign in the most unexpected places. (i.e. at a nursery, in the park above Tegucigalpa where the Jesus statue stands)." AND "In recent years, our deepening ties have been underscored by high-level contacts, including the visit of the Honduran Minister of Industry and Commerce, José Adonis Lavaire, to Ottawa in November, 2013, for the signature of the Canada-Honduras FTA, and parallel labour and environmental cooperation agreements." Source: [Link]

Historical Interactions? Anything done after the 90's is history for me. Therefore after establishing relations, Canada has been "invisibly" but steadily been maintaining its presence in Honduras for many years though many may not know this due to the United States constant and rather flashy presence. During the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch, Canadians, excluding Honduran locals and the United States closely following afterwards, were one of the first people to provide support. Source: [Link] Canada also played a leading role in efforts to reach a peaceful, negotiated solution to the political crisis sparked by the coup d’état in Honduras in June 2009 (I kid you not, I didn't even know Canada had his two cents in there). --> Source: [Link]

Commercial/Economic Relations?  "Canada and Honduras have a healthy and growing commercial relationship." Source: [Link] Canada has been known to invest in Honduras extensively (for what? I dunno :/ ) and is Honduras' third largest trading partner, Japan and-his-out-of-no-where-status coming in at a close second XD (omg I'm done). Anyhow, Canada and Honduras have recently signed a free-trade agreement between the two of them and let me tell you how it started --> "Canada and the Central America Four countries of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua (CA4) launched negotiations towards a free trade agreement (FTA) as well as parallel agreements on labour cooperation and the environment on November 21, 2001. In late 2010, Canada decided to move forward with negotiations with Honduras only." Source: [Link] [Link] [Link] And why Honduras? I mean, Nicaragua's economy is better then hersEmoji26

Sports? omg too much for me XwX But did anyone catch Honduras totally owning Canada in October last year?? XD Source: [Link]

Interesting "Fur Rila?" Tid-Bits:

  • Honduras' Bishop is originally from Canada (wuuut???? XD ) Source: [Link]
  • Amado Guevara, Honduras' most famed football player, was once a local star in the Toronto FC Source: [Link]
  • Sister María Rosa Leggol, known as the "Mother Theresa" of Honduras and a former nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, is of French Canadian descent omg her family story ;w; Source: [Link]
  • A total of 24,891 Canadians visited Honduras from January to October 2013, with an additional 36,853 Canadians entering the country by cruise ship over the same period, and a considerable number of Canadians work in Honduras on behalf of Canadian and Honduran non-governmental organizations (NGOs); and for Honduras, that's kind of a lot, considering how dangerous it is in the country now (you brave souls ;o; ) Source: [Link]
  • Diana Schoutsen, Miss Universe Honduras 2013, came from and currently lives in Ontario, Canada Source: [Link]

There's more sources I wanted to add but I was a noob and forgot to bookmark some of them and am too lazy to find them all right now. Will do it when I have time XP

But in conclusion, after seeing all of this I found myself beginning to have the feels :iconslashshockplz: and they just would not stop :iconcryforeverplz:

Canduras Head-Canons:

Flag of Canada by EmilyStor3 & Flag of Honduras They're relationship starts off slow since Honduras is purposefully dense when it comes to stuff like romance and since America hogs Honduras whenever, its hard for Canada to get closer to her without CAPTAIN COCKBLOCK getting in between them. But when they do hang out, just the two of them, its actually a very pleasant companionship that can easily become something more. Thus, when Canada realizes his feelings and confesses them to Hondura, she's at first resistant because why her? She's just Ana; poor, not particularly beautiful (or sexy), can't possibly gain much from her, etc...But Matthew insists with the Canadian spirit (silent but persistent) and I guess eventually she agrees to go out with him on a date...TBC... Here's a comic I made about this --> fav.me/d7bzifr

Bullet; Red Basically, Canduras is a nice slow ship where they get to find their feelings and nurture/analyze it, get to really know each other. It's why many people didn't even know that Canada had a crush on Honduras, Intuitive Honduras and Nosy America included.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Honduras and Canada like to simply hang out and chat with each other, usually talking about nothing and anything. Sometimes, they say nothing and are comfortable in the silence too.

Bullet; Red Honduras can always tell what Canada is going to say so she generally creates a comfortable atmosphere that allows him to build up the courage to say what he needs to say.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Canada and Honduras rarely argue but when they do, they both feel guilty about it afterwards and find someway to make it up to each other.

Bullet; Red Honduras loves it when Canada speaks French, especially when he tries to say romantic things to her (not that she understands).

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Canada secretly loves Honduras's long hair. He sometimes finds himself fiddling with some strands until it curls around his finger (to which she is embarrassed about since Honduras calls her hair "The Monster").

Bullet; Red In the beginning of their friendship and even during their relationship, Canada has always had a small notepad he keeps where he writes down facts and observations about Honduras (a thing that started after a talk with Japan's distant observation of her).

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Honduras likes doing things for Canada. She likes it when he smiles.

Bullet; Red In their domestic relationship, Canada cooks breakfast and Honduras does dinner. Once they finally move in together, it was decided that Honduras stay at Canada's place. After she moved in, it took very little time for a hammock and a small makeshift soccer field to appear in their backyard.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Honduras always cheers for Canada (whether he loses or wins) when he plays his winter sports, especially hockey.

Bullet; Red Not only does, Canada find Honduras speaking in Spanish kind of hot (not that he understands), he also finds her English accent sexy (not that ever tells her).

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Honduras fusses over Canada whenever he's injured and Canada gets super protective and intense when Honduras gets hurt

Bullet; Red In their friendship/relationship, Honduras likes to think of herself as the mama Jaguar. Except she's protecting her mate from physical/mental dangers.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Kumajiro and Honduras like to sleep in the living room when the fireplace is roaring.

Bullet; Red Morazán likes hitching a ride on Kumajiro's head. The bear doesn't min since he finds the bird amusing. They even have stimulating civilized conversations together, much to Honduras's shock.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! When they sleep together in the same bed (and nothing lemony happens), Honduras generally hogs the sheets. Canada doesn't mind since Ana always tends to snuggle up to him.

Bullet; Red Honduras likes hanging out with Canada on his nature trips. Canada in turn doesn't mind going along with Honduras her shopping trips.

Dark Blue Bullet - F2U! Canada and Honduras's first date consisted of going to the movies, walking around town, and  having a nice dinner. In Honduras. It's a wonder they survived it, especially when they caught themselves after 5 pm in the city.

And now dear people, you know why I ship Canduras :iconfrenchsquealplz:

they will be death of me omg

I know it sounds like an usual crack ship but trust me. The relationship has basis/relations/history and everything.

Will update this when I stumble upon more information~~
